You buy a purse or a tote bag in the hope that it will suit your needs. It doesn't really have the right number of pockets, and the pockets it does have aren't really in the correct places for you to be able to keep track of things, but it's the best you can do.
Or the interior is the best part of the bag --- it'll definitely keep you organized --- so you choose to put up with a less-than-perfect exterior (maybe the fabric doesn't feel right, or the color is wrong) even though it isn't ideal, either.
Ever wanted to be able to design and create your own bag? Tailor it to any occasion, with any fabric, any color scheme, to match any outfit ...
Anything is possible. Check out Handbag Workshop: Design and Sew the Perfect Bag by Anna Mazur.
The book features eighteen different patterns for bags and satchels ranging from a basic wristlet clutch to a convertible tote to a stingray shoulder bag, along with step-by-step instructions and vibrant color photographs to follow.
Mazur clearly knows whereof she speaks: the book is organized into easy, intermediate, and advanced designs, with plenty of guidance on sewing techniques, fabrics, closures, linings, pockets, and straps.
And furthermore, it's obvious that she loves what she does. Her enthusiasm and expert wisdom spill over onto the pages, encouraging even novice seamstresses and people almost totally unfamiliar with sewing needles that a chosen project can be created with patience and diligence.
If you can craft, you can produce one of these handbags. Get your hands on a copy of the book to find out for yourself!
