Flash Fiction Challenge: One Amazing Sentence

Thanks again to Chuck Wendig for his weekly (due every Friday morning) writing prompts. Working in tandem with other writers, even virtually, to fulfill his challenges is both invaluable and motivational.

His prompt for this week, in a nutshell, was to write and submit a single sentence, one that would come somewhere in the middle of a complete story, and one that was so amazing and intriguing that the reader couldn't help but go back and read everything that led up to that sentence, and then continue on and read everything after that sentence as well.

You'll find my submission below.

Feedback always welcome!
